I am sitting on the couch right now with the game on, well a game. I am not exactly a football fan, but I keep Matt company for the last couple of hours for college football Saturdays. I tend to be a tad distracting when I show him things from Regretsy ;-)
Tomorrow we are going to be doing our Thanksgiving, but on the actual day my mother and I went out to get Vietnamese food at my favorite Vietnamese place in Town. Actually it’s the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had. I went off my typical diet (as I do from time to time) and ordered fresh rolls (they have the most flavorful fresh rolls I have EVER tasted), and vegetarian bún.

drool worthy fresh rolls

Right before the hot sauce ;-)
It was SO good! I don’t even worry about the soy, rice, and sugar because I eat healthily more than 80% of the time, so this really doesn’t change a thing. My body will get right back on track.
Friday I met up with Kelly for breakfast. We went to Healeo to get smoothies before she got on a plane to go back to North Carolina. I have only met one other blogger who I hadn’t previously known before, and I get really excited! It was especially nice because Kelly understands my eating habits (and appreciates them), so I don’t have to worry about what she thinks of my healthy food. Not that I care all THAT much, but it is nice to go out with someone who eats similarly. After Kelly left I went to work making new pies to sell at Healeo. I came up with a Chocolate-Maca Tart that was inspired by a raw recipe on The Sunny Raw Kitchen. Unfortunately though I didn’t have all the required ingredients, but it turned out well. VERY sweet, and VERY rich. This is quite a decadent tart. A small slice will be more than enough to appease a sweet tooth. The pies are selling very well, so next weekend I’ll have to come up with yet another! It’s a lot of fun.

I also have to thank my dear friend Tiffany for bringing me back some AMAZING dates from her recent trip to see her mother.
I put half of them in the fridge, and half in the freezer. I also ate about 10 of them while I was putting them away. I have to say the Zahidi are a new favorite. They aren’t super sweet, but they are VERY good. I don’t want to eat these babies too quickly.
Today I got my hair cut, and the hair triangle really isn’t my favorite look. After the beautification I went to Pike Place Market for some holiday festivities. They were setting up for the lighting of the Christmas tree and there were a lot of people milling about. I bought some spices that I desperately needed, and also stocked up on some spice mixtures to give my family for Christmas presents. I hadn’t ever been to World Spice Merchants, but that is definitely a shop I am going to keep on my list. The place has so many amazing smells I didn’t really even know where to start. I ended up getting one mixture for myself and 2 different ones as gifts. After about 15 minutes I settled on Harissa (which is a Moroccan spice mixture) and it is so aromatic I almost wanted to sprinkle it on myself as perfume ;-) I want to try all their blends so don’t be surprised if you start seeing some very spiced food on my blog. I had some coffee, enjoyed the sunset, and headed home to bake pumpkin pie for Sunday dinner. I have to admit, this whole Sunday Thanksgiving is quite nice. There is no grocery store rush, and I have had a few days to relax before the big meal ;-) Might have to make it into a tradition. Ok here are some photos of my day! Hope you all had a fabulous holiday and weekend!

They were singing "Falling Slowly" from the movie "Once" which made me a little teary!

Yay for dates! I just bought some too woo! :) Im sorry to say that ive never tried vietnamese food. What would you say would be the best thing? Do you have a favorite dish?
Thanks for the shout out! I can’t remember if I tried the one that’s your favorite. Isn’t it amazing that there are so many and taste so different?
Did you know that you are my #1 referring site to my blog? So thanks for that!
See you soon! (Yummy looking pie)
PS. I may give E3 Live one more try and this time keep my receipt so they’ll refund my money if I don’t feel a difference!
What a great looking set of spring rolls!!!! Wow, I am sooo impressed. Did you make them, I am assuming yes but you just glossed over that so quickly. The 411 would be awesome!
The Regretsy. Love it LOL
The Dates. Never tried those. I get medjools b/c they’re sweet, cheap, and readily available.
The tart. Wow. Nice work, Marissa!!!!!!
I had the best time on Friday, although now I’m bummed that I had to leave so soon, and missed out on your pie!
I love your hair cut, looks great on you. That was the length mine was for the wedding and then I chopped it all right after the honeymoon (apparently, lots of girls do!)
Mmmm dates. drool. Haven’t tried different kinds, really want to!
OMG now I am craving Vietnamese food! That is my perfect Vietnamese meal. I think I may have to make a wheat-free peanut sauce (my fav thing about spring rolls) and find something to eat with it.
