I love getting the e-mails from you, but could easily see how that could get overwhelming. I would say I only re-check the comments maybe 1 or 2 times out of 10.

If I leave a question in someone's comments that I care about having answered, I will probably subscribe to following comments (if that's an option) or check back later. Honestly though, that's so, so rare, so 99% of the time I wouldn't know you'd responded unless you emailed me.

That said, on my own blog, if someone else asks a question I think everyone would benefit from, I'll answer back in my own comments and then maybe email the original commenter as well to make sure she gets the answer she asked for.

If you didn't comment by email, I probably wouldn't know you responded. I think if it gets to be a large amount of commenters, than you can respond to the ones that are asking a question or someone you feel the need to respond to.

Hope you are well :)

Love,
Julia

I'm with Heather.
I DO get 50+ comments per post these days and there is no way i can comment back to people. I go to their blog if they have one & leave the answer to their question (if they had one) there, in their comment field, so they can see it. I never assume anyone goes back to a blog to re-read comments. I go to 50+ blogs a day so it's not like i go back a 2nd time to read the author's follow up. Unless I know the author is super diligent to write to each commenter (as you are...and you're the rare breed!). And i adore how you just take it to email. B/c honestly, you will get my more candid comments that way anyway :)

Basically, do as you wish, your blog, Marissa! but know that people like me won't necessarily see your follow up b/c i dont check back in. Til the next post in G Reader shows up :)

Either way, I get distracted by work or whatever... I do appreciate the response though as I'm sure most people do! I think it's good to put them in the comment section unless they deal with something personal or only specific to that person.
