Bonne Année

I fell a little behind in my blog reading due to the holidays and things piling up, so I only just realized this morning that my friend Tiffany over at Carbzilla had bestowed the Beautiful Blogger Award on me. To be honest I don’t quite know what I am supposed to do with it, but I do know that I have to share 7 random facts about myself with you all. I also get to give the award to 7 other bloggers. I am not sure if I have to give it to 7 who have never received it, or just to any 7 who I feel deserve it, but I hope I am not committing a faux pas (or 7 of them) with this!

First things first, my 7 random facts:

1. I cannot stand licorice. I can take small amounts of anise, but licorice makes me gag.

2. I currently reside with 4 felines, but I am really more of a dog person.

3. I can touch my tongue to my nose.

4. I majored in theatre and my life long dream has been to be a film actress. A dream I’ll never give up on even though I know Seattle isn’t exactly the best place for me to be for this dream.

5. Matt and I met on an Internet dating site. Don’t knock them! The quiet types are sometimes too shy to approach you in person, and still waters really do run deep.

6. I used to show my toy poodle Heidi in obedience shows. She wasn’t much of a fan so I didn’t do this for long.

7. Once I made a batch of  carrot cake truffles and got a date and a marriage proposal from them. And not from the same man!

And now I’d like to give the Beautiful Blogger Award to these gorgeous bloggers!

1. Valentina Vitols Photography

2. Polka dots and Moonbeams

3. The Beholder

4. Fabulous Since 1961

5. Jenn Cuisine

6. Alchemille’s Secret Garden

7. Flying Mermaid

I just realized that I do not read many male blogger’s blogs. I wonder why this is. Interesting…

As an FYI I don’t do new years resolutions. Years ago I realized that I am a bit of a rebel. I don’t like to be forced to do things. I hate feeling like I am a failure if I “backslide” or just don’t feel like doing something at some point. This is why diets never did it for me and why I have goals and plans, and why they also can change at any time. This is also why I don’t make a whole lot of set plans as well. I hate feeling like I have let someone down so I prefer to do things tentatively. I think this has become especially true in Seattle, the land of the flakes. It’s amazing h0w many times people have seemed “sure” about making plans, only to back out at the last minute. Now, I am guilty of flaking out as well, but I at least try not to have people counting on me.

I do however have goals, and things I am working on. Because I don’t enjoy feeling like I have to be responsible to anyone I tend not to share these goals. I will tell you what I am looking forward to. This month I start taking actual yoga classes! I am very excited about this as I have been wary about yoga at home due to the potential for injury. I think it will be much better for me to get a strong base knowledge of the poses before I truly attempt to do anything on my own. I am also looking into pilates, ballet, and even a salsa class here or there (personally I’d prefer swing, but Matt wants to salsa!). Snowshoeing and spring hikes are also on the horizon for me.

This week has filled up FAST. I keep trying to think about when I will have time to come up with some amazing yummies, but I keep on eating the same quick fixes. Last night it was Roasted broccoli and a bulb of roasted garlic. So simple yet oh so good. Since I bought a huge bag of broccoli florets fro Costco and I won’t be getting home until about 8pm tonight something tells me it will be more of the same. Except now I want tahini on it. That means I have to get a lemon. Oh good grief!

Happy New Year!

  1. I noticed that I don’t follow a lot of male bloggers either, with Langdon Cook being the rare exception. Maybe I’m sexist – do you think?

There’s a lot of male weight-loss and training advice that just doesn’t pertain to me. I’d like to think it’s more of that kinda issue.

Matt gets major points for wanting to Salsa!

  2. Why thank you Marissa!
Carrot cake truffles? Those sound amazing! Any chance of getting you to share the recipe?

  3. I met my partner online, too. We both detested dating and when I met him he was quiet to the point of muteness with most people. If not for writing I would not have had the opportunity to really know who he was and fall in love with him. So I ain’t knockin’ it! :)

  4. “I cannot stand licorice. I can take small amounts of anise, but licorice makes me gag.”–ME TOO!
    Actually, I despise both LOL

  5. A date and a proposal from TRUFFLES?! Dude, I will take some lessons from you. :)
